Alma Syrbayeva (Tutor)

Set and Costume Designer

Honoured Art Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Practising set designer, theatre and film costume designer and clothing designer. Graduate of the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov (theatrical and decorative art, stage design), Almaty. Member of the Republican Union of Theatre Figures and of the Eurasian Union of Designers.

  • 1993: Set designer, Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Almaty
  • 1997–2003: Fashion designer, State Knitwear Company Agama, Uzbekistan
  • 2004–2010: Chief artist, S. Mukanova Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre, Petropavlovsk
  • Since 2010: Lecturer, Kazakh National University of Arts, Astana

Her students are laureates of the State Youth Prize Daryn, prize winners of the international competitions Best Dress of the World (Timișoara) and Russian Silhouette, the Republican Delphic Games and national Olympiads.
