{"id":682,"date":"2020-10-09T13:53:54","date_gmt":"2020-10-09T13:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tbilisibiennale.com\/wp2\/?page_id=682"},"modified":"2020-10-09T15:13:06","modified_gmt":"2020-10-09T15:13:06","slug":"manana-gunia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tbilisibiennale.com\/2026\/manana-gunia\/","title":{"rendered":"Manana Gunia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MANANA GUNIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Set designer, Art director<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Born in Tbilisi (Georgia), she studied set design at\u00a0Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, graduated in 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2002, she continued her studies at the\u00a0Florence Academy of Fine Arts, where she specialized in virtual scenography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Georgia, she designed many performances of various genres \u2013 from drama and music shows to opera and ballet.<br>She has collaborated with the\u00a0Tbilisi State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Marjanishvili State Academic Drama Theatre, Tbilisi Music and Drama State Theatre, Tbilisi State Conservatoire, etc..<br>She participated in more than 30 art exhibitions in Georgia and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1996 she won the\u00a0Golden Mask award\u00a0of the\u00a0Rustavi International Theatre Festival\u00a0(Georgia).<br>Since 1998, she has been Founder and Board Member of the Union of\u00a0Young Theater Artists &#8211; OISTAT National Center\u00a0of Georgia.<br>From 1998 -2001 she taught set design at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2002 she lives and works in Milan (Italy). Among her most successful production is \u00abOreste e la tartuca\u00bb by Francesco Traversi performed at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini of Florence as part of\u00a0Maggio Musicale Fiorentino\u00a0(2002).<br>She was awarded the\u00a0Golden Medal\u00a0for the Best Multimedia Works as part of the 20th edition of\u00a0Premio Firenze\u00a0organized by the Centro Culturale Firenze Europa Mario Conti.<br>From 2003-2005 she gave master classes in virtual scenography at\u00a0Teatro alla Scala Academy\u00a0in Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manana Gunia constantly cooperates with the artistic circles of Georgia and contributes to the promotion of the Georgian culture abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2003 and up to now she has been designer of the Georgian Student and National pavilions at the\u00a0Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space \u2013 PQ07, PQ11, PQ015 and PQ19\u00a0(Czech Republic).<br>Since 2016 she is a Designer of\u00a0Tbilisi Biennial of Stage Design\u00a0(Tbilisi, Georgia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2018 Manana began her collaboration with\u00a0Astana Opera House, where she was designing the sets and costumes for\u00a0Rossini&#8217;s \u00abLa Scala di Seta\u00bb, Donizetti&#8217;s \u00abDon Pasquale\u00bb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANANA GUNIA Set designer, Art director Born in Tbilisi (Georgia), she studied set design at\u00a0Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, graduated in 1996.
