Professor PhD Hab. Pawel Dobrzycki (born 1954) is a stage, costume, and lighting designer, pedagogue, painter, and architect.
Currently, Pawel is creator and the former Dean of the Scenography Faculty at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
He has created about 350 works with the best directors in the best polish theatres and abroad (England, Russia, Germany, Greece, Holland, France, Israel), including about 50 opera productions and some films. In Pawel’s work, the lighting design is always alongside the stage design.
Pawel is a member of the Education Commission of OISTAT, representing Poland.

2021 / 22 – member of Jury of World Stage Design Calgary 2022
Pawel’s students got a lot of awards on festivals of scenography in Poland and on
Beijing International Biennale of International Stage Design Students Works Exchange 2014: II and I award for staging and design.

2022 King Lear by Shakespeare in The Globe Theatre London, dir. Helena Kaut – Howson, Pawel’s set and costumes, Lear played by famous Kathryn Hunter.
